Summer Hair Solutions by StyleList Staff, Posted May 20th, 2009

Check out Amy’s tips on AOL Stylelist's "Summer Hair Solutions," featured on pages 3, 6, 9, 13 and 15! Here are some excerpts from the article:

Best Summer Cut, Thick Hair
"Thick hair looks best in a medium or long length with layers – it has a tendency to expand and become poufy in humidity and a short cut will exacerbate the problem, says Peter Lamas. "Be sure to keep the layers long so that they easily tie back into a sleek ponytail or chignon if you don't have the time or desire to blow dry," adds Amy Abramite."

Treat Dryness
"Hours spent outside under the sun's rays can zap moisture. Apply your favorite deep conditioner once a week after shampooing to towel-dried hair. Dampen a towel and warm in the microwave, then wrap the towel turban-style on your head and let sit for 10 minutes for an intensive treatment. Rinse with cool water to lock in shine and moisture, suggests Amy Abramite."

Limp Locks
"Use a volumizing shampoo and only apply conditioner to the very ends if at all. When styling, opt for a light mousse and blow dry with a big round brush to create lift at the scalp. If you're not talented with a round brush, blow dry with your head hanging upside down for volume, and quickly touch-up your ends with a curling iron, says Amy Abramite."

Curl Control
"For pretty, hydrated curls, try shampooing less and hydrating more by simply rinsing and conditioning every other time you wash, suggests William George. To get the best curl, apply gel to damp hair and twirl inch sections around your finger to define the curl. Repeat around the whole head to create corkscrew curls. After air drying, lightly scrunch curls with your hands to ensure they aren't stiff-looking, says Amy Abramite."
