I know a lot of you have been asking about the Keratin Smoothing Treatment, and I can understand why: It transforms your hair into soft, strong, manageable and shiny perfection. But we needed to stand back for a while because the first products on the market weren’t safe enough for you or my staff. Over time, this process has been refined to the point where I feel good about offering it in our salon. We use the Coppola System, which is formaldehyde-safe.
But just in case, I bought a highly sensitive portable gas detector to measure the presence of any formaldehyde. The air quality in the salon is measured regularly by OSHA standards, with excellent results. So I said, “Let’s go for it!”
A solution is applied the hair, which is then blown dry and flat-ironed. The process infuses keratin into the hair follicle to change the texture of the hair and it offers protection from environmental stressors. Anyone can benefit from this – it’s truly a conditioner on steroids. It works for someone with straight, weak, fine hair who’s always wanted longer hair as much as it does for taming frizz. It’s great for colored hair too; it moisturizes and prevents color fading.
Unlike Japanese or Thermal Straightening, there is plenty of body left in the hair afterwards. You can set it, iron it, blow dry it. It functions like dream hair. This is excellent for African-American hair textures. It creates easy-to-manage hair without the telltale straightness of a relaxer. It just looks natural.
Our Keratin Smoothing Treatment takes approximately 2-1/2 hours and is priced from $350. The effects last up to three months. It’s worth noting that hair texture strengthens and improves with each successive application. On the color side, Josh Shores and Jasen James, plus stylists Michelle Dixon, Patricia Arredondo, Qiana Redmond, Rae Hernandez and Sanda Petrut are trained to offer this service. Come and find me after your treatment – I’d love to see your results!
