Did you know our Stylist Hans VanDoornik has been working with L’Oreal at the International Hairdressing Academy for the past 4 years? Hans travels to New York about once a month where he works with many of the guest artists who come into the academy. Hans does the finishing for these artists.

This past trip, Hans was lucky enough to work with Tim Hartley.

Hartley is renowned for his role as International Creative Director of Vidal Sassoon. For over 30 years, Hartley has inspired generations of hairdressers with his passionate approach to hair, cutting edge aesthetic and technical expertise.

However, Hartley got the most fulfillment from teaching other hairdressers. Thus, at this stage of his career, he wants to do just that. So what has Hans learned from Hartley?

1. Cutting edge, technical Expertise. His expert tip for you, perfect for the season? Avoid using plastic combs and brushes as they enhance static electricity making it worse. A simple solution like wearing a metal barrette or clip to counteract the static electricity also helps.

2. The need for a continued education to stay on point and on top of trends. Hans believes everyone should have a hobby that they want to learn more about.

3. The importance of training with people like Hartley, the legends, the people who began today’s trends. Hans is excited for his next trip to NYC to train with even more hair legends!
