Maxine stylist Adrianne Johnston, best know as the blowout queen has landed her spot on the red carpet. Well not quite, but this year she’s Maxine Salon’s “field” correspondent.

What to LOVE this award season.

  • The luxe ponytail, accessorizing with headbands and braids. At the Golden Globes Michelle Williams did it best with just a simple headband to compliment her short locks. Charlize Theron turned heads adding a bling statement headband.

Adrianne’s favorite looks.

  • The classically chic Angelina Jolie confidently pulled off this chignon.

  • Reese Witherspoon’s tousled temptress tresses were the ultimate. Follow the below steps to get this tousled look.
  1. Prep dry hair from mid shaft to ends with Kerastase Lotion Densitive. Apply Kerastase Double Force Hairspray for hold, from roots to ends, beginning to end.
  2. Section your Hair into a Halo Section. Start at the bottom using a 1-inch curling iron vertically on a 1 ½ size section, leave the last ½ inch of the hairs strand out of the iron. This will help create a more modern wave.
  3. Work your way up, going away from the face. Once you’re in the crown area hold the iron diagonal to create more lift.
  4. After curling each section let it cool before brushing it out. Use a Mason Pearson Brush starting at the bottom and work your way up.
  5. If you need more volume tease with your Mason Pearson at the root.
  6. Use She Uemura Liquid Fabric to give it that sexy edge. Spray two pumps into your hands and move it through the tousled waves as necessary.

For black tie events Adrianne says to play it safe and stick with a classic look to compliment the formal attire. There are plenty of other times and parties where one can do something out of the ordinary, but these award shows are timeless events captured in history.

Either way the show must go on!
