What Type's FOr You?

If you're dying to transform your style but don't want to lose length, ask for layers. "They supply movemen, shape and volume," says Amy Abramite, Creative Director and Stylist at Maxine Salon in Chicago, IL. Here, the pro explains how different types of layers change the overall look of a basic bob:

No Layers:

You'll have a smooth, clean look that's dense and strong.
To style: Use a flat iron for a sleek finish

Long Layers:

The look will have added swing plus a touch of volume.
To style: Use a curling iron for a messy, tousled feel.

Many Layers:

You'll see lots of movement and you'll have a weightless, voluminous style.
To style: Blow-dry with a round brush for flattering shape and volume.
