To his credit (and our relief), the colorist doesn't leave anything to chance. He listened patiently while we stumbled through a clumsy description of our ideal color, then handed us a book of celebrity photographs to help us illustrate the point. We selected Giselle's honeyed hue, which he agreed would suit our light brown mane. Using balayage, he painted amber highlights on our roots, then applied a gloss to blend it into the perfect beachy shade. $150 and up.
