Beauti-Fall: 3 Must-Have Styles of the Season From Maxine Salon
While you complained about the humidity during the Summer, the whipping winds and rain aren't exactly doing much for your hair either. What's a girl to do? In lieu of sporting a hat or surrendering to the lackluster ponytail, it's time to add a few new tricks to that beauty bag of yours — elastic ties not included. We've got the 411 from stylist Dani Hauflaire from Maxine (712 N. Rush St., 312-751-1511) salon and spa.
The three-story brownstone has received copious local and national press thanks to the highly trained stylists and colorists who are constantly educating themselves — Dani included — on the latest trends and techniques. While PopSugar gals Korey Karnes Huyler and Nikki Kaapke are dedicated clients, over the years, stars like Ozzy Osbourne, Anika Noni Rose, Giada De Laurentiis, Eliza Dushku, and Pink have also graced the styling chairs. When looking into Fall style trends, you just may see a glimmer of your mama's yearbook picture . . . Here are Dani's tips on the looks of the season.
Bangs: We talked about the humidity above, but there's no need to worry about stressing over locks sticking to your face come Fall. With that being said, it's time to bust out some bangs! Dani suggests trying out either a light fringe a la Brigitte Bardot, or something a bit more dramatic like Audrey Hepburn baby bangs. Dani is also digging the slightly layered distressed-yet-elegant look (think AllSaints model, not you first thing in the a.m.).
The Luxe Beehive: Beauty school dropout? Not so much. In fact, Dani claims it's a classic that can be modernized with some additional texture and fun accessories. Of course, the height can be taken down a few inches too.
Bobby Pin Crazy: We get the impression that Dani would rather leave home without her driver's license than a handful of bobby pins in her purse! She loves 'em for everything from impromptu updos like a bun (tip: add some bling to your hair via brooches or little rhinestones), to creating soft crimping, retro waves, or braids — another fun trend that has yet to go out of style.
