A Brief History of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's Enviable Hair

 

When it comes to blonde bombshells, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is almost always first on our list. Her hair is gorgeous—thick, bouncy, and easily transformable—and don't even get us started on that buttery blonde color. "It’s undeniable that Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has fabulous hair. It’s voluminous and multidimensional," says Lilybeth Vargas, NYC extension and color specialist and founder of Dúo Hair.

Cascading curls

Huntington-Whiteley arrived at the LACMA Art + Film Gala in L.A. with long, cascading curls and a side part.

"For this look apply a hydrating oil like Trademark Beauty Jojoba Oil Daily Elixir all over the hair, making sure the hair is nice and smooth, and part it on the side," says  Raven Hurtado, Stylist at Maxine Salon in Chicago. "Use a 1 1/4 inch curling iron and curl the hair in the same direction. Brush out the curls with a boar bristle brush and tuck the front of the hair behind the ears using a gel to tame fly aways. Use hairspray for an all over hold."

Polished Updo

The model and actress attended a screening of The Unknown Girl at the Cannes Film Festival with a polished, black-tie-appropriate updo.

"To get this look, apply a gel and use a boar bristle brush to comb the hair back and create a ponytail," says Hurtado. "Once you have the ponytail, twist the hair counter clockwise and wrap it around creating a bun. Secure it with bobby pins. Fluff out the bun for more volume. Use a hairspray for the final touch." 

Tousled Lob

Huntington-Whiteley posed before the Burberry show during London Fashion Week in 2016 with a tousled, trendy lob and graduated highlights.

"As for her hair color, she seems to constantly gravitate towards the rooty blonde look." says Vargas. "You could ask your stylist to give you a mixture of a rich base color with warm golden tones for highlights that are mostly concentrated towards the ends to mimic her soft ombré style."

Beachy Waves

This time, she styled her lob with more textured beach waves in L.A. "For this look use a styling cream and blow the hair for volume at the roots," explains Hurtado. "Follow up with a 1 inch curling iron, like Trademark Beauty Mood with the curling iron attachment, and curl the hair alternating each section. Curl the pieces in the front away from the face. Comb out the curls with a wide tooth comb and use a dry thickening spray for a textured-airy look."

Sleek Ponytail

Huntington-Whiteley wore a middle-parted, sleek ponytail for amfAR's Inspiration Gala in L.A.

"To get this look, part the hair down the middle and flat iron the hair," says Hurtado. "Apply gel and comb the hair back into a sleek low ponytail and secure it with a hair tie. Take a piece of hair from underneath the ponytail and wrap it around the hair tie and secure it with a bobby pin to hide the hair tie."

Side Part

To accept her Model of the Year award in London, Huntington-Whitely wore her enviable locks parted to the side and slightly shaggier than in months prior.

"In all her glamourous photos, she wears her hair with a lot of movement and shine," says Vargas. "Her layered haircut is defined with a volumizing mousse to create a long lasting style."

Polished Blowout

At a De Grisogono Party Cannes in 2014, the model wore her blonde hair in a polished blowout swept behind each ear.

To copy her look, part your hair down the middle and use a shine-boosting serum. If you hair has a natural wave to it, you may consider using a flat-iron for a sleek and shiny look.  "An anti-frizz oil is a perfect product to pair with a leave-in moisturizing conditioner to create a finished looking shine, while protecting the hair from any hot tools," says Vargas.

Slicked Back

For the 2013 Costume Institute Gala in New York City, she kept up with the "punk" theme with a slick-back with a bit of height.

To copy this look, tease hair lightly at the roots to achieve some height and spray with hairspray. Brush back to create a smooth and shiny layer on top, and fasten the top portion of your hair back with a clip or bobby pins. Keep the rest of your hair shiny with loose waves. Apply a bit of gel to the sides to keep them slicked back.

Down with a Twist

Huntington-Whiteley wore her hair straight, down, and with a twist for the Golden Globes in Beverly Hills. This side twist is easy to do, and gives your hair a little extra volume at the crown.

Part your hair in a side part and take one section in the front and gently twist. Use a small bobby pin to secure into place. Lightly spray hair spray to hold it in place. Tuck one side behind your ear and leave the other side of your hair draped across your shoulder.

Mermaid Waves

Ahead of the Transformers 3 European premiere, she posed with full-blown mermaid hair: a deep side part and big, bouncy waves.

"For this look use a volumizing mousse and blow dry the hair with Trademark Beauty Speedy Blo and a round brush and pin each section," says Hurtado. "Once the whole head is pinned, let it sit 10-20 minutes and spray a flexible hairspray to give it a hold. Once you’ve let it sit, take down the hairpins and comb out with your fingers or a wide tooth comb and make a deep side part. Follow up with a 2 inch curling iron and curl the ends for bouncy waves. Tuck one side behind the ear, using a decorative hair pin."
