CHERRY COLA HAIR IS THE INTERNET’S FAVORITE HAIR COLOR

This one’s for our dark brunette and black-haired babes. The Cherry Cola shade, rightfully resembling the color of a Cherry Coca-Cola can, has come out of hiding since it last trended in the early 2000s. Of course, thanks to TikTok, the color is back better than ever and everyone wants it.

To get this shade, you’ll definitely need to pay a visit to your salon and have a strict hair care routine following your color appointment. You’ll want to have an expert evaluate your virgin hair color and decide the best way to add the cherry cola goodness to your locks. “It’s a dark violet red,” says colorist Lorena Valdes of the Maxine Salon in Chicago, IL. She explains it can be done as a solid color or as a base color with highlights or balayage. Not quite sure if cherry cola hair is right for you or just looking for a little inspo? No worries, we have you covered! Check out these 10 cherry Coke hair color hairstyles to show your colorist as inspiration.

CHERRY COKE HAIR COLOR INSPO

CHERRY HALF-UP HALF-DOWN

Megan Thee Stallion is no stranger to the Cherry Cola hair color trend. She styled her red hair color with a half-up half-down pony, similar to how we would imagine Ariana Grande to style her hair if she was still sporting her red hair coloring.

To maintain this color, “you’ll need a touch-up every six to eight weeks, with a gloss in between if needed to refresh the hair if the hair is prone to fading,” says Valdes.

CHERRY COLA AND PINK

This may be our favorite Cherry Cola look. If you find the color is too dark for you (even though we love how vibrant it is), get a little wild and add some pink to the mix. Any colorist would probably jump at this opportunity, almost giving you an ombré or gradient look.

“Brunettes or ones with brown hair color undertones have an easier time maintaining the cherry cola hair color because it’s using the natural underlying pigment to achieve it. Someone with light brown to blonde hair may experience a harder time with fading and achieving a softer version as it will need to be touched up sooner,” notes Valdes.

LONG CHERRY LOCKS

Long, chic, and simple—dark cherry-colored strands don’t need much to shine other than a little curl and hairspray to hold them in place like this style.

CHERRY ORANGE SODA

When you start thinking about soda-inspired hair colors, your imagination can really run wild. We like to call this Cherry Orange Soda Tint, which we know you’ve definitely mixed at a soda fountain a time or two.

CHERRY CURTAINS

Curtain bangs aren’t going anywhere. What better way to give them some dimension than with this color?

CHERRY STYLED HIGHLIGHTS

If you’re unsure how cherry cola hair will feel and fade within your hair, try red highlights or undertones to ease into the trend.

SUBTLE CHERRY CHOP

A deep cherry cola bob is edgy yet unexpected. Pair with your favorite clips or a glitzy headband to jazz things up.

BLUNT CHERRY COLA BANGS

Another edgy chop for all you bang lovers, these are styled with long layers but we would love to see this in a cute Hailey Bieber bob, too.

CHERRY TONED

This intentional hand-painted cherry cola look almost represents what the color looks like after it's been lived in for a week or two. We love that it isn’t super fresh and feels a bit more dimensional as your hair is styled in different ways.

“Clients may need to bleach their hair if it’s too dark or may need to fill their hair if it’s too light. I would recommend consulting with your hairstylist or colorist to select the right service,” says Valdes.

FEATHERED AND CHERRIED

This is a perfect example of how amazing cherry cola hair looks on deeper skin tones and dark brown hair. As for this cut, we love the feathered supermodel look. There’s room for so many different shades of what we consider cherry cola colors like dark auburn, deep burgundy, chocolate cherry, or cherry red similar to the look above.
