Here, Spino breaks down the key factors to look out for when shopping for hair straightening brushes:

TEMPERATURE

Ideally, your hair straightening brush sports a digital temperature control. Hot tools can safely go up to 450 degrees Fahrenheit without damaging your tresses, but you don't have to crank up the heat that high unless you have thick, curly, or coily hair. Spino advises those with straight, wavy, and fine hair to lower the temperature to create beautiful smooth hair, minus the potential heat damage.

YOUR HAIR LENGTH AND FULLNESS

Like with all haircare and styling products, different hair types will require heat settings and brush sizes. “Fine hair should be set to a lower heat setting than someone with thicker or curlier hair. Hair that is dense will need a bigger brush. If your hair needs more smoothing, look for a brush with bristles that can get close to the root,” explains Spino.

BRISTLES AND BRUSH SIZE

Speaking of bristles, make sure the bristles are securely planted to the brush to avoid unnecessary pulling and damage. Spino suggests using hair straightening brushes with ceramic coating to avoid snagging your hair.

You should also pick the right size brush for your styling needs. The only caveat: If you don't have frizzy hair and use any hot tool equipped with ionic tech you'll actually create frizzy hair.
