"The 'wolflette,' or petite wolf, is a soft, feminine version of the popular 'wolf cut,'" Amy Abramite, creative director and stylist at Maxine Salon in Chicago, tells POPSUGAR. What sets it apart is the length of the layers. The original "wolf cut" has shorter, choppy bangs, whereas the "wolfette" features longer, face-framing pieces around the face instead.

"I've had requests for 'wolf cuts,' but without the feeling of a mullet," says Abramite. "They love the shaggy layers but want more length on the sides and the fringe."

At the salon, your stylist should focus on adding volumizing layers throughout your head for a "tousled, choppy effect mimicking shaggy animal fur," says Abramite. Be sure to ask your stylist for longer bangs that are seamlessly blended into the rest of the head.

The style works on all hair types but it's especially flatting on those with wavy and curly hair thanks to the natural texture and movement they allow for. Thin hair will find the style great for adding body and fullness, while thick hair can benefit from the ability to remove bulkiness through layers. "A thinning or texturizing scissor may be used to remove bulk for weightless lift," says Abramite.

How to Style a "Wolflette" Haircut

Styling the "wolflette" haircut is easy — especially if you have naturally wavy or curly hair.
